Business students at Wiltshire College & University Centre organised a successful and insightful guest talk when Guardian journalist John Harris visited the Trowbridge campus.
The event called ‘John Harris… in Conversation’ took place in the Arc Theatre at the campus followed an informal question and answer format, with the focus of the conversation being on education and social issues that are relevant and current.
Pre-set questions were put to John who then encouraged audience participation when giving his answers, with students urged to give their views on the subject and start a discussion.
The event was well attended by students and staff, who were asked to make a donation to Cancer Research upon entry.
Neil Burns, Lecturer in Business, helped organise the event and said: “We’re very grateful to John for giving up his time to take part in this event. It was an extremely enlightening activity and I know students will have gained a lot from hearing John’s thoughts on a wide range of topics.
“Activities such as this are invaluable to expanding and exploring students’ knowledge. We always strive to give our groups a rounded learning experience and it is great for them to hear from experts in their field.”
