Studying TV and Film at Wiltshire College & University Centre, alumni student Jack Curtis-Smith has used his qualification to land a career at Babcock International, as well as finding himself create content for some fantastic opportunities.
"My journey into the industry started just over three years ago as an apprentice, and before that, I was a student at Wiltshire College, studying Level 3 TV and Film."
"During my time at college, I learned how much I thrived from practical, hands-on experience. It was clear that an apprenticeship in the industry would be the best option for me post-graduation. With that in mind, I chose to invest in my kit, created videos in any spare time I had, built a showreel to showcase my skills, and searched for opportunities around me."
Jack never misses an opportunity that lands his way and always ensures his work is of the highest standard. He is extremely driven to fulfil a successful career in the video industry.
"After following my intuition, I found myself in a position I once dreamt of - I now shoot projects for major Babcock International clients; BMW Group, Metropolitan Police, and London Fire Brigade, to name a few. I also shoot for up-and-coming music artists and local sporting people in my free time."
Passing on advice to current and prospective students, Jack said: "If you have a friend that makes music, shoot their video. A mutual that has started a clothing brand, take their images. Master your craft, look for opportunities at reach and pursue them. It all started by practising, investing in myself, perusing opportunities, and practising again."
Well-done Jack! We are so proud to celebrate the successes of our former students and see them follow their dreams.
