Wiltshire College & University Centre will again host a Land based Trade Show and Careers Fair at the Lackham campus this summer.
The event, now in its third year, will take place on Monday 17th June from 11am-3pm and will bring together employers, industry and educators to showcase the wide range of career options available in the land based sector.
Lackham is WCUC’s dedicated campus for land based study and information on Further and Higher Education courses, apprenticeships and other training opportunities offered at the campus will also be available.
Schools and visitors are welcome to attend as the show will provide students with the opportunity to meet with potential employers. A number of industry-leading suppliers and organisations are already registered to attend, including Lantra, Forestry England, Westonbirt Arboretum, Hillier Nurseries and industry equipment manufacturers Kersten Maintenance Equipment.
The show will also promote innovation within the industry from area experts as well as provide key sector associations with potential collaboration and partnership opportunities. Exhibitors will not only be able to meet potential job candidates but also showcase their business to new customers and other organisations as well as advise and demonstrate products and offer technical advice and solutions.
Victoria Fiander, Assessor in Horticulture at Lackham and the event organiser, said: “We’re delighted to once again be able to host our Trade Show and Careers Fair at Lackham to showcase the vast opportunities available within various land based industries. The previous Trade Shows were very well received by exhibitors and attendees, and we’re pleased so many organisations have agreed to take part again this year.
“As a training provider of a wide range of land based qualifications, collaboration with industry is essential to ensure learners are in alignment with current industry ideas and solutions. This enables us to train our students to industry standards, provide demonstration of best practice and gives added value to employers looking for a highly-skilled workforce that can respond to future challenges.”
WCUC’s Lackham campus is an important land based education centre which promotes productivity and sustainability and provides its students with the skills and knowledge to support land based industries. Set in 500 acres of Wiltshire countryside with a series of greenhouses, encompassing woodlands, wetlands, sports pitches and amenity lawns, there is no end of outdoor space for students to learn their trade.
Lackham is also a Royal Horticulture Society-certified training centre and all courses are designed to meet the demands and needs of both students and employers.
Attendance at the event is free of charge but tickets must be booked in advance via wiltshire.ac.uk/events.
