Are you aged 19 or over and interested in pursuing a degree course but lack the necessary A-Levels or Level 3 qualifications? Are you not in a position to be able to dedicate 2 to 3 days attending college? This distance course gives you the flexibility to study during the evening whilst maintaining your job. Our Access to Higher Education course can help you achieve your educational goals and pave the way for higher education opportunities. By successfully completing this Access to HE course, you will gain the academic foundation required to excel in higher education. Throughout the program, you will be guided by experienced and dedicated tutors who will support your learning journey. They will employ various teaching methodologies, including lectures, interactive discussions, practical exercises, and assessments, to ensure a well-rounded and engaging learning experience. The Access to Higher Education course covers a broad range of subjects, allowing you to explore different disciplines and discover your areas of interest. You will have the opportunity to enhance your critical thinking, research, and analytical skills, which are vital for success in higher education.

What will I learn?

This one-year level 3 course is designed to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills in a general area, enabling you to progress towards university studies and pursure a more specific degree of your choice.

You can choose to study some of the following subjects: biology, chemistry, psychology, sociology, history or English.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications

You will be assessed through a variety of methods to properly prepare you for university.

Entry Requirements

- 4 GCSE's at grade 4 (C) or equivalent, including maths and English.
- The ability to study independently

Additional Costs and Information

The Access to HE course can be funded through different methods. You may be eligible for the course free of charge, personally fund the course, or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Access to HE is the only course where the student loan does not have to be repaid if you complete your undergraduate degree. More information on the Advanced Learner Loan can be found at www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan.

In order to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan, you will need the following documentation: proof of identity in the form of a passport or birth certificate and your National Insurance number.

During the course you will develop your knowledge in your chosen subject area while also improving your study skills such a research and essay writing, preparing you for the requirements of higher education study. You'll be well supported throughout the course by a personal tutor and through regular 1:1 tutorial's. You need to be able to commit to at least 15 hours of study per week.
