Course Overview
This course will help you to understand the language of cooking and information given in instructions and recipes, food packets etc. You will also do some basic cooking.
What will I learn?
The topics covered are:
Vocabulary: Basic kitchen utensils and ingredients, cooking methods and techniques, meal preparation and presentation.
Grammar: Imperatives for giving instructions in the kitchen, past tense for describing cooking experiences, comparative adjectives for discussing different cooking styles.
Listening: Following recipe instructions, understanding cooking show demonstrations, listening to restaurant orders and requests.
Speaking: Describing favourite recipes, explaining cooking processes step by step, participating in group cooking activities.
Writing: Writing recipe instructions, food reviews, menu planning, shopping lists for ingredients.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course lecturer. There are no final qualifications associated with this course.

To be eligible for the Free fundable programme, you must be aged 19+ who are in receipt of benefit or on a low wage income and must have lived in the UK for the last three years.
