Course Overview
This course introduces the concept of ESL community makers and emphasises the importance of community building in language learning. It will explore various ways ESL learners can actively participate in community-making, highlighting the role of cultural exchange and its benefits in language acquisition. The course discusses the use of technology in creating online ESL communities, detailing the advantages and challenges of online platforms and offering advice for effective communication and engagement. It also covers the benefits of collaborative learning, providing strategies and examples of successful projects. Additionally, the course connects community service with ESL learning, showcasing how volunteer work can positively impact language acquisition and offering resources to incorporate community service into ESL programs.

Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor.

To be eligible for the Free fundable programme, you must be aged 19+ who are in receipt of benefit or on a low wage income and must have lived in the UK for the last three years.
