Course Overview
If you see yourself jet-setting around the world as an air steward, planning exciting tours, managing a luxury hotel or organising bespoke events, this course could be the perfect step towards your career. Tourism is one of the biggest industries worldwide, with a diverse range of exciting careers. Our Level 3 course in Travel and Tourism will give you an insight into the travel industry, both in the UK and overseas. You’ll be taught by experienced tutors, gaining an invaluable insight into your future. You’ll take part in trips and tours to enrich your learning and give you a vibrant taste of life in the industry. Past trips have included visits to cabin crew training facilities, theme parks and UK and European tourist destinations. In the second year of the course, you’ll have the opportunity to apply for our overseas work experience, giving you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain work experience abroad, develop new skills, gain vital international experience and boost your employability.
What will I learn?
We will immerse you in the travel and tourism industry and help you prepare to become a successful professional in your chosen career, whatever this may be. You will develop and hone essential skills like teamwork, communication, planning and more that employers value highly in travel and tourism candidates.
You’ll learn all the key elements of travel and tourism. You’ll also undertake two additional qualifications to give you a competitive edge in your career: NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Aviation and NCFC Level 2 Certificate in Introduction to Cabin Crew.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
An industry placement is a fundamental part of this course, and you will be expected to complete one as part of your studies. We will support you to do this.
Year 1 = Level 3 Introductory Diploma in Travel and Tourism
Year 2 = Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism
Your final qualification will be a NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism.
Entry Requirements
• 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English and maths, or a Merit or Distinction in a related subject at Level 2.
• A good reference.
• An interview.
Additional Costs and Information
You will be required to purchase uniform and pay an entry fee. Trips to organisations and exhibitions are a key part of this course and you will be expected to participate; the total for these will be £400 per year.
