Course Overview
The construction industry is one of the largest and broadest to work in, employing around 7% of the UKs workforce, and there is always a demand for skilled professionals. An apprenticeship in construction is a form of vocational training where you will follow an NOCN approved standard to develop skills and knowledge and then demonstrate and evidence your application in a construction environment. Property Maintenance Operatives need to have a good eye for detail, as well as strong maths skills and the ability to follow instructions and technical drawings.
What will I learn?
The intermediate Property Maintenance Operative apprenticeship allows you to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment or career progression in Property Maintenance.
It will give you the theoretical knowledge you need to succeed in the industry, the practical skills to produce work to a high standard, and an understanding of health and safety, materials and sustainability.
This apprenticeship will cover the following units:
• Carry out Painting and Tiling
• Carry out Plumbing
• Carry out Electrical Test and Repairs
• Carpentry
• Carry out maintenance of External Building Fabric
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
The intermediate apprenticeship in Property Maintenance will take 18 months to complete and you will be required to attend college for 1 day per week for the duration of the apprenticeship. At the end of the 18 months you will be required to complete an end point assessment or EPA which will test your knowledge and skills and will be assessed by an independent external assessor.
Entry Requirements
Must have achieved a GCSE grade 1 or Functional skills level 1 in Maths and English and be willing to work towards a Functional skills Level 2.
Additional Costs and Information
The Competence element will be assessed in the workplace using evidence to build a portfolio. The knowledge element is delivered at our Salisbury Campuses. The EPA will be taken in college.
