Course Overview
This 10-week programme is an intensive Level 2 Skills Training & Employment Programme that guarantees an interview with a potential job offer either into a post as a Teaching Assistant or Teaching Assistant – SEND.The programme is delivered online and you will use both Teams and E-Assessor to record and store your work.
What will I learn?
You will learn about:
Special Educational Needs to include the promotion of inclusion in the provision of learning activities, experiences and education.
Autism Learners will explore the concept of ‘Red Flags for Autism’ and getting a diagnosis. The unit develops understanding of the impact of ASD on the family and the individual, and what support can be put in place.
Prevent
Behaviour Management
Supporting Maths an English (including phonics) in a teaching assistant role
Safeguarding
You will also cover employability skills to help you be ready for interviews and applying for TA positions.
You will cover:
Creating/updating your CV
Applying for TA roles online
Interview skills and techniques
Planning and preparing for an interview
Understanding recruitment processes in Education
At the end of the course you will gain:
Level 2 qualification:
- Understanding Autism
- Understanding specific learning difficulties
- Child Development
Level 1 Employability Skills
Certificate in Teaching Assistant
Entry Requirements
This is a fast-paced course so a good level of comprehension will be needed, ideally, with at least 3 GCSE or equivalent. However, we will look at each application sympathetically.
Additional Costs and Information
You will need to use either a computer or laptop for the course, as mobile devices such as tablets or phones tend not to work sufficiently well.
This course will run for ten weeks over four days per week:
Week 1: Monday 9:30am - Induction
Weeks 1-10: Monday to Thursday 9:30am to 2:30pm (no sessions in Half Term)
Week 10: Friday 9:30am to 11am - Exit Review
