Our Higher Technical Qualifications provide a wide-ranging study of Engineering and are designed for students who wish to pursue or advance their career in this exciting sector.
The department's facilities will enable you to learn using a wide range of industry equipment. A large, dedicated workshop houses a range of state-of-the-art resources. In our engineering labs you'll build experience with CAD equipment and software, programmable logic controllers, pneumatic and hydraulic rigs and a range of electronic, robotic and mechatronic facilities.
As a College we are proud of our strong links with industry partners such as DSTL, Babcock, Knorr Bremse and BAE Systems. These connections allow us to provide you with more than just academic experience: you’ll be immersed in varied working environments and develop a real understanding of the standards and practices in industry-leading companies, both locally and globally.
Dr. Mohamed Hafez holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Birmingham where his research focused on the integrated control of articulated heavy vehicles using a scaled multi-body dynamic model. He is our Programme Leader for all our Higher Technical Qualifications in Engineering and is a dedicated and accomplished professional with a passion for mechanical and automotive engineering and cutting-edge research. Dr Hafez also teaches on the Oxford Brookes Motorsport degree programmes delivered at Castle Combe circuit.
With a strong technical background, Dr. Hafez excels in engineering software proficiency, conducting lab tests for vehicle systems and sub-systems, and overseeing on-road and off-road tests for various vehicles, including race cars. His expertise extends to exhaust emissions measurements, vehicle simulation software (MSC ADAMS, Carsim, MATLAB, SIMULINK), and road tests.
