Becky is an experienced practitioner in the field of children’s learning and development, and is the Programme Lead on the College’s degree-level courses in this area – Foundation Degree (FdA) Early Years and BA (Hons) (top-up) Early Childhood Studies.
Becky’s interest in children’s learning and development began during a two-year voluntary position in a local primary school. Becky joined the College in 2015, initially teaching Level 2 and Level 3 students before joining the university-level programme. Prior to joining us, she gained a vast amount of experience within a number of very different early years settings over an eight-year period.
Her comprehensive and varied experience has enabled Becky to deepen and apply her own professional and pedagogical knowledge. Fully understanding the lasting impacts of a child’s early experiences and the effects they can have into adulthood, Becky is passionate about helping children achieve the very best outcomes they are able to and believes Higher Education teaching can make a big difference in allowing children to attain those outcomes.
Becky is committed to making a difference in people’s lives and understands the transformation that Higher Education can make within the local community. As a result, the College’s Early Years Higher Education courses are delivered as a supportive needs-led experience in a friendly and intimate community.
When she is not in the classroom, Becky enjoys reading, particularly keeping up to date with research within her specialist field. She also spends her time doing a variety of creative activities, including crochet, handmade cards and making various items with resin.
