David is an expert motorsport engineer with a wealth of experience both in education and in the field. He is the programme lead on the College’s two motorsport-based degree-level courses – Foundation Degree (FdEng) Motorsport Engineering and BEng (Hons) (top-up) Motorsport Technology.
David joined the College in 2016 and currently serves as Deputy Head of Engineering (Motorsport) and has been based in education, whether working or studying, for more than a decade. He graduated from the University of Wales, Trinity St David, in 2009 with a BEng in Motorsport Engineering before completing a Masters degree and his PGCE at the same place, finishing his studies in 2013.
He also began his professional career at the University of Wales, initially working as a technician before moving into lecturing and later becoming the university’s chief motorsport engineer. His areas of teaching specialism include computer aided-design, electronics, management, science and aerodynamics.
David’s professional achievements include building the biggest aerodynamic diffuser ever and developing a Formula Student car during his time at the University of Wales which finished the national championship in sixth place.
Outside of work and his obvious passion for motorsport, David likes to listen to musicals and is a big fan of Elton John. He also believes he would be perfect for a pub quiz round entitled ‘Questions No-one Knows the Answer To’.
